The College of Engineering at North Dakota State University (NDSU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE). The Chair must be an innovative and visionary leader who is committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, and enhancing the diversity, equity and inclusive excellence. The Chair reports to the Dean of the College of Engineering and is responsible for administrative, budgetary, and personnel decisions within the Department. The Chair will be responsible for overseeing curriculum issues, facility planning and program implementation and will serve as a mentor and evaluator of the faculty, and facilitate a collegial and productive work environment for a diverse group of faculty, staff and students. The chair is expected to lead the faculty and students in their quest for excellence in education and research, create a vision and long-term goals for the department. The Chair will work closely with the Industry Advisory Board, building relationships with industrial supporters and alumni. Candidates are expected to have extensive teaching and research experience and accomplishments deserving appointment as a tenured full professor. Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a closely related field.
Rank of full professor.
A proven record of excellence in scholarly activities in teaching, research and service.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, specifically with academic and industry constituents.
Registered as Professional Engineer (PE) in North Dakota or demonstrate capacity to get registered in North Dakota.
Experience in an academic supervisory capacity/leadership position.
Experience with ABET-EAC accreditation, and knowledge of innovative curriculum development and implementation.
Experience in team work, conflict resolution, and negotiating solutions within a culture of acceptance and collegiality.
Leadership experience in service to the profession.
Experience with fiscal management responsibilities.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students, and promote inclusiveness.
