At our offices in Charleston, TN, we are currently looking for an EI&C Engineer.
Wacker Chemie AG will build a new production plant for its HDK® brand of pyrogenic silica at its Charleston site in the US state of Tennessee. The new facility, with an annual capacity of about 13,000 metric tons, is anticipated to involve capital expenditure of some US $150 million. Construction work will start in the second quarter of 2017, with completion planned for the first half of 2019. This is expected to create some 50 new jobs at the Charleston site. WACKER already produces hyperpure polysilicon for the solar and semiconductor sectors in Charleston, with some 650 employees there.
Provide technical support and engineering services in the field of electrical engineering, instrumentation, automation and controls (EI&C) as necessary to provide for safe operations, regulatory compliance and maximum availability of production units.
Your Tasks • Support the Manager EI&C Engineering … in assuring safe operating conditions and regulatory compliance of production units • Support availability of production units at required capacity and quality • Support process and technology transfer/exchange between WACKER's Polysilicon production sites • Consult and support capital projects executed by project engineering • Manage and/or support capital invest and expense type projects within area of responsibility • Conduct and/or coordinate debottlenecking activities • Conduct and/or coordinate troubleshooting activities • Drive and support continuous improvement activities related to safety, quality and cost • Develop and/or support development of specifications, standards and codes • Coordinate 3rd party service providers • Work in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams • Represent WACKER's interests towards suppliers and contractors • Compile and provide reports related to area of responsibility • Cooperate with groups and individuals within the Engineering & Maintenance department, Operations and other service units with focus on achieving optimal results/solutions from a corporate/enterprise perspective • Perform all tasks and assignments in accordance to WACKER's policies and procedures. • Other tasks and duties as assigned
Your Profile Education and Experience: • Bachelor of Science degree (or higher level education) in the field of electrical engineering, instrumentation and/or controls • 3+ years of combined professional experience in the field of plant/production engineering and maintenance (preferred) or college graduate with relevant coop/internship experience • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Able to perform and succeed in an environment of schedule and cost pressure • Capable of professionally dealing with changing priorities and requirements • Thorough understanding of engineering principles and construction practices • Thorough technical knowledge in the field of electrical engineering, instrumentation, automation and controls (EI&C) incl. relevant regulations, standards and codes • Team player attitude • Objective judgment and fact based decision making approach • Strong multitasking competency • Able and willing to travel domestically and internationally (mainly to Germany)
