Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure’s Chelmsford office is seeking a Construction Inspector to support a job located in Boston, MA. This temporary, night time position will start in March/April 2017 and will be full-time for approximately 1.5 years.
Observes, inspects, communicates and coordinates construction with design / build subcontractors and provides verbal and written communication to the project manager, client and other tenant agencies within the building under limited supervision and under the ongoing review of the Project Manager.
Experience and knowledge of building Fire Alarm Systems; ability to oversee installation of new Fire Alarm System, conduit, wiring, control panels, commissioning & testing and removal of old system
Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS); ability to oversee upgrades to the BAS and building elevators
Perform all construction inspections and monitoring of contractors work including work installed and demolition and removal of existing systems; prepare written inspection reports
Attend project management meetings with Project Manager, client and others throughout project
Ensure work conforms with contract requirements
Ensure schedule is maintained; identify progress related shortfalls; make recommendations
Maintain daily log of activity; maintain accurate as built drawings and note changes
Understand, implement and oversee safety requirements
Skills / Qualifications
Bachelors Degree and / or combination of technical education with a minimum of 15 years industry experience with building construction and inspection
HSPD-12 clearance or ability to obtain
Experience and knowledge of building Fire Alarm Systems and Building Automation Systems
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Demonstrated leadership, ability to interact with clients and strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work at night for full duration of project; weekend work is possible
Ability to stoop, kneel, climb and lift up to 50 pounds
Must complete employment physical demonstrating ability to meet job requirements
