Provides leadership and sets strategic priorities/goals for all major facilities projects and activities university-wide. This includes working with all campuses to create a prioritized list of projects, managing and overseeing the contractors, participating in contract negotiation, initiating operational changes, and project planning and execution for all campus facilities projects. Compiles data and information to perform analysis to support priority setting and budgetary decisions for R&R projects on all campuses. Initiates projects in IURFSsystem, reviews and approves project estimates, provides senior level oversight of the bid and contract award process. Ensures open and timely communication among construction management team, other divisions of Vice President Capital Projects and Facilities (VPCPF), outside contractors and vendors, and IU departments.
Directs, coordinates and administers the activities of the Construction Management division ofVPCPFto include, but not limited to: hiring, on-boarding, performance management and merit recommendations, leadership and team building, promotions, transfers, vacation schedules and dismissals. Provides guidance and supervision toCPMManagers on priority setting and strategy development; and monitors performance for accuracy and completeness. Ensures staff are properly trained to monitor compliance with state and federal regulations, University policy and guidelines, and departmental objectives, goals, processes and procedures.
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree and eight years of experience in large scale project management and coordination.
Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.
Proven ability to read and understand large-format schematics, blueprints and drawings; and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with all levels of staff and respond to customers tactfully and courteously. Strong organizational and listing skills and demonstrated ability to problem solve issues, resolve conflict and make good decisions using sound judgment.
Master’s Degree in construction management or related field; ten years of experience in large scale project management and coordination; knowledge of IU systems such asMMSor eBuilder; experience to be in construction management, government or higher education preferred.
