The Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at North Carolina State University invites outstanding applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or tenured Associate or Full Professor position (75% Research, 25% Teaching) with expertise in the areas of integrated modeling, data analytics, and/or decision analysis of complex agricultural and biological systems. The applicant’s research should complement multiple research programs in the Department and strengthen efforts to apply precision agriculture, bioprocessing, environmental, and/or ecological engineering tools to solving systems-level problems. Applicants should possess strong fundamentals in data mining, time series analysis and forecasting, data analytics, risk assessment, and mathematical/statistical (data driven) modeling, and have the expertise and leadership experience to implement, analyze, and evaluate such models using state-of-the-art techniques. The successful applicant should interface with faculty and industry to develop decision support tools for real-world applications in agricultural, food, bioprocessing, environmental, and/or ecological systems.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in data analysis and multi-scale modeling techniques, advise undergraduate and graduate students, secure external funding for research activities and graduate support, and engage in service to the department, university and profession. The successful applicant will be expected to excel at creating and collaborating with teams within Biological and Agricultural Engineering and also with national and international interdisciplinary groups within both academia and industry.

Successful applicants will currently hold equivalent rank of a tenure-track Assistant or tenured Associate or Full Professor. Current registration as or qualification for licensure as a professional engineer is desired.

The Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering provides leadership for the development and dissemination of engineering knowledge to promote efficient utilization of biological and agricultural systems with sustainable management and preservation of natural resources. The program offers two four-year undergraduate programs, a graduate program, and a certificate program. The Biological E...ngineering program is jointly administered by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Engineering. The Department currently has 27 faculty, 15 professional staff, and 13 administrative/technical staff.
