Matrix Design Group, Inc., (Matrix) an employee-owned planning, engineering and environmental consulting firm is seeking a Mid-level Water Resources Engineer to join our group in our Denver office. We are looking for a team member who is innovative, motivated and dedicated to providing a high level of service to our clients.
The Water Resources Group at Matrix serves a diverse set of clients which require tailored approaches and unique skill sets. This is generally accomplished through handling a project from its inception at a planning level through final design and construction. Each phase requires separate sets of tools and ensures that engineers get exposed to all aspects of a project from start to finish. No two days are alike for a Matrix Water Resource Engineer. Typical Matrix Water Resources projects include Watershed, Water Quality, and Drainage Master Plans; design document preparation for urban and natural drainage systems; as well as field data collection and construction observation.

Watershed Planning and Master Plan Preparation
Hydrology and Hydraulics Modeling and Analysis
Stormwater Management Planning and Design
River Restoration and Channel Design
FEMA Flood Map Revisions
Water Quality Studies and BMP Design
Technical Reporting and Presentations
Water Resources Software including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, CUHP/SWMM, StormCAD
Civil Engineering design software including AutoCAD and Civil 3D
Geospatial Information Systems Integration including ESRI ArcGIS, GeoHMS, and GeoRAS
Construction Observation and Coordination with Construction Contractors
Maintain effective communication with clients and project teams
Develop project work plans
Produce project deliverables including technical memoranda, design plans and specifications, and technical reports
Adhere to Matrix quality assurance procedures to assist senior engineers in reviewing project deliverables
Marketing and Business Development:
Assist with building our existing water resources client base through routine contact and networking
Participate in various business development events and present at conferences
Assist with coordination and writing of water resources proposals and statements of qualifications
Leadership within the Water Resources Practice:
Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff
As appropriate, ensure that the staff resources are deployed in a productive and profitable manner and conduct regular meetings to ensure that project needs are balanced with staff availability
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of progressive, comprehensive Water Resources experience
Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering with an emphasis in Water Resources, Hydrology, or Hydraulic engineering
Colorado EIT required
Outstanding communication and presentation skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
5 years of progressive, comprehensive Water Resources experience
Graduate degree in civil or environmental engineering with an emphasis in Water Resources, Hydrology, or Hydraulic engineering
Strong industry relationships and an understanding of municipal, state and federal criteria
Experience and understanding of local, regional, state and federal policies, programs and procedures
