Under direction of the Public Works Director/Deputy City Manager, the Deputy City Engineer assists in the management of the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department, including exercising supervision of Engineering Division personnel in making assignments, setting priorities, and reviewing work in the areas of capital improvement projects, traffic engineering and transportation, tax assessment districts, grant funding procurement, and the floodplain management and stormwater management programs.

The ideal candidate will have proven leadership, project management and administrative experience working with or in local government as well as a broad background in all aspects of urban planning, community development, and environmental review, and a strong track record of success in managing a multifaceted department.
