The City of Miami Beach is seeking an Assistant City Engineer to perform a variety of advanced technical, administrative, supervisory work in directing the activities of the Engineering Division. The applicant must have a civil engineering degree, be registered by the State of Florida as a professional engineer, and have considerable knowledge of public works infrastructure construction. Miami Beach is in the midst of a $500,000 stormwater construction program to mitigate sea level rise as one component of the City’s resiliency effort.

Graduation from a college or university accredited by the American Board of Engineering Technology (ABET) with a four (4) year degree in civil engineering or a related field.
Current Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration as issued by the State of Florida
Four (4) to seven (7) years of experience relevant to the major duties/essential functions of the position. Part-time experience will be prorated. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering, surveying, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of major Public Works projects and facilities such as: highway, bridges, water and sewer works. flood control, drainage works, traffic, and coastal protection facilities
Considerable knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to design and construction of Public Works projects
Ability to instruct, train, and supervise personnel in all aspects of Public Works engineering.
