Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized, award-winning professional services consulting firm, is experiencing unprecedented growth, and we have an exciting opportunity for a full-time, fire protection engineer to join our team. Responsibilities include performing holistic fire protection and life safety code analysis; designing of automatic fire alarm, detection and suppression systems; preparing plans and specifications for bidding and construction; performing quality checks of documents; mentoring less experienced staff; conducting periodic construction site inspections. Entrance onto military bases is an essential function of this position; candidates must be able to pass federal, state, and/or local agency background checks. Travel will be required.
The successful candidate must have all of the following:
a bachelor’s degree or higher in fire protection engineering or related degree from an accredited four-year college or university
at least five years (10+ preferred) of relevant fire protection design or consulting experience
a PE license in any state with the ability to obtain in multiple states
The ideal candidate(s) will have any/all of the following: experience acting as the qualified fire protection engineer on military projects; experience with the Uniform Facilities Code 3-600-01; experience performing fire protection and life safety code analysis; experience designing foam and water fire suppression systems including the water supply and distribution analysis; experience designing automatic fire alarm and detection systems; experience performing fire protection acceptance testing and commissioning.
