Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Traffic Engineer to join our team in our Minnetonka, MN office. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.
The Traffic engineer is to perform and eventually supervise traffic impact studies, travel demand management plans, intersection control evaluations, trip generation calculations, traffic signal plans, roundabout design, signing plans, traffic operations modeling and access management planning. Long term goal for this position is to include developing client relationships for maintenance marketing and repeat business, presentations of work product to planning commissions and city councils, as well as attendance at professional societies for continuing education to employ state-of-the-profession ideas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Managing traffic projects
Traffic forecasting and modeling
Creating and analyzing transportation plans
Leading traffic impact studies and travel demand management plans
Performing capacity analyses for local and state highway and interchange projects
Traffic design and operations analysis
Performing Intersection capacity evaluations including roundabouts
Performing safety and access studies
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
4-10 years of experience in discipline within the A&E industry desired
EIT preferred or ability to achieve status within a year
PTOE certification desired
Have experience with traffic modeling software and a good understanding of traffic engineering. Must possess experience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, Synchro/SimTraffic, Vistro/VISSIM experience desired
Strong knowledge of Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, ITE Trip Generation Manual, ITE Parking Generation Report, HCM 2010, HSM, AASHTO Green Book, and other traffic related documents.
Preferred candidate will have working experience with traffic standards from state and local agencies; traffic signal operation and design; and transportation planning.
Exceptional interpersonal skills including, but not limited to verbal and written communication skills, active listening and negotiation skills, ability to understanding others’ perspectives
Must possess a valid driver’s license. You will be reimbursed for business-related travel.
Must possess basic MS Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Advanced knowledge of Excel is preferred.
