Civiltec engineering, inc. (Civiltec) was founded to provide general civil engineering work in 1986 with a focus primarily upon private development, subdivision design and federal design-build projects. Civiltec was re-established in 1992, to provide a balance of professional services for public agencies primarily. Those services consist of municipal engineering, water and wastewater engineering, master planning, environmental engineering, drainage engineering, land planning, surveying, engineering plan review services, stormwater, transportation engineering, construction staking, electrical/controls engineering and construction management. Our goal is to establish long term working relationships with our clients and sub-consultants that supplement our services.
Our company headquarters is located in Monrovia, California. We are a small consulting firm with 36 employees in 3 offices – Monrovia, California; Peoria and Prescott, Arizona. We are seeking a full-time experienced Project Engineer in our Monrovia, California office. As a result of our strategic planning and growth, we are in need of an experienced and talented Project Engineer to assist with our growth. The qualified candidate will be responsible for performing assignments to develop detailed design for Water and Wastewater Treatment, Supply, Production, Collection, Distribution, Transmission and Conveyance. This position is requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, codes, logic and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. Exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. The ideal candidate will have experience with related work in the field of water and wastewater systems design, construction, planning and conceptualization.
Mass Balance Modeling
Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
Directs the preparation of improvement plans, specifications, supporting documents and permit applications for projects, utility infrastructure and public works projects.
Directs the preparation of calculations, such as storm drain, wastewater, water system, hydrologic, earthwork quantities, transportation, cost estimates and other supporting documentation for public and private projects.
Performs plan design, drafting and publishing using CAD software. Working knowledge of the current version of AutoCAD is beneficial. Performs basic GIS tasks including creating exhibits, spatial data functions, and small database analysis.
May direct the work of CAD Technicians.
Organize and maintain project files. Maintain neat and organized work area that allows efficient access to information required by other team members.
Assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards.
Develop planning documents and studies through written expression justifying decisions and calculations performed.
Keep Project Managers informed of workload and any changes in project.
Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved civil engineering techniques or procedures to create new or refined improvements, equipment, materials, processes or methods.
Markets the firm’s capabilities within the civil engineering specialty to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients. Prepares proposals for potential projects within the guidelines of the company authority matrix.
Participates in the selection of design teams and sub-consultants and in the negotiations of fees and subcontractors.
Conducts constructability reviews or assists in the design/planning/review of other civil engineering projects not assigned to the incumbent.
May supervise civil engineering and support personnel: evaluates performance; assigns and schedules work; establishes project priorities and standards; makes recommendations on hiring, firing and promotions; provides technical support of project work.
May assist the Department/Division Manager in the preparation of the department/division budget and policy implementation.
Performs all other assigned related duties.
Communicating with all staff members professionally and respectfully.
Comply with Civiltec’s design and QA/QC policies and procedures.
Assist in developing project planning.
Assist in preparing and reviewing of design milestone submittal deliverables and ensure completeness and quality of submittal to clients.
Strong knowledge of AutoCad Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
Registration as a Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain licensure within one year of hire.
Minimum 5-7 years’ previous design experience specifically in water and wastewater systems.
Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and AutoCad Civil3D.
Experience using Microsoft Office suite programs, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook. Has the capacity to learn additional engineering software.
Understanding of applicable design codes.
Continues learning process by attending in-house seminars and continuing education opportunities outside of office.
