MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES • Under direction, serve as project manager for design and construction of Parks facilities and infrastructures. • Provide structural engineering designs, analyses, calculations and related technical work. • Manage consultant contracts and complete in-house design projects, ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget. • Inspect sites and facilities; develop condition reports, feasibility studies, recommendations, scopes of work, requests for proposals, contract documents, drawings, specifications and estimates. • Coordinate project specific interagency issues, such as permits, filings and approvals. Prepare permit applications for seal and signature of Chief Engineer/Director of Engineering, and submit to involved agencies. • Present projects for approvals internally and externally, as required. • Conduct field inspections before and during design and construction, through turnover. • Collaborate with other designers and professionals to optimize work for the public’s benefit.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 1. Four (4) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; and 2. A valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License. Current New York State registration as a Professional Engineer must be maintained for the duration of your employment.
A masters degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) may be substituted for one year of the civil engineering experience required in “1" above. This position is exempt from NYC residency requirements. Special Note: In addition to above qualification requirements, to be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II, individuals must have at least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project. PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS 1. Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or related field. 2. Project management experience. 3. Experience with New York City Construction Codes and demonstrable achievements in local construction and engineering projects. 4. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Structural Analysis and Design Software programs. 5. Excellent communication and organizational skills. 6. Driver license valid in New York State.
Salary: $85,000 - $91,000 plus excellent benefits
