SUMMARY OF POSITION ROLE/RESPONSIBILITIES: The Environmental Engineering Bachelor of Science degree program at Florida Polytechnic University and the Florida Industrial and Phosphate Research Institute (FIPR) seek highly qualitied candidates with strong expertise in water, water systems, hydrology, and/or waste-water cleanup. This position is a joint appointment between Florida Polytechnic University and Florida Industrial and Phosphate Research Institute. The candidate will serve as University faculty with teaching and research responsibilities, as well as serving as Research Director for Water Management at Florida Industrial and Phosphate Research Institute. The Institute appointment requires individuals to actively pursue research in support of the Institute environmental mission. In this role, the individual will be expected to perform research that supports the FIPR mission and to also seek out grant opportunities related to the areas specified below. When possible, activity should have direct impact on industry operations to facilitate economic development in central Florida and beyond, both domestic and international. This individual will be expert in one or more of the areas of wastewater treatment, mitigation and remediation of impacted surface and groundwater (including agricultural practices), water chemistry, environmental microbiology, hydrology and hydraulics, environmental sensing and monitoring and sustainable practices. Preference will be given to those with prior experience teaching undergraduate and graduate environmental engineering courses and laboratories, relevant industrial experience, and professional engineering licensure. A demonstrated research record as evidenced by publications and successful acquisition of extramural funding is also highly desired.
