Position Summary: The Industrial Studies Department Chair is a tenure-track leadership and faculty position. This individual will provide leadership in the department of Industrial Studies, enhancing existing programs and leading new initiatives; fostering external relationships and seeking resources; leading ATMAE accreditation efforts; managing program budget and resources; and working in coordination with the College Dean, other College leaders, and diverse offices on campus to achieve strategic priorities. This is a tenure-track faculty position with an annual appointment and a start date of June 1, 2020.
Leadership & Responsibilities: This appointment is approximately 75% administrative and 25% teaching and advising. • Working with faculty and staff in the department by providing leadership, supervision and mentoring • Develop class schedules and teaching assignments • Lead strategic planning efforts in the department and align with University Strategic Plan • Lead ATMAE accreditation and assessment activities for Industrial Studies program • Lead curricular changes including program development and other academic initiatives • Develop new and enhance current external relationships with employers, alumni, donors and other stakeholders; seek external resources to support Industrial Studies program mission • Manage Industrial Studies budgets and resources • Provide a vision and future for the department which fosters program excellence • Teaching and advising (approximately 25% of appointment) in the area(s) of industrial studies and/or industrial technology • Lead program activities related to student and academic affairs • Provide leadership for department, college and university through working with college and university leadership Other duties as assigned
What You’ll Need to Succeed: Minimum Qualifications: • Master’s in Industrial Technology, Technology Education or related field with industry, professional and/or academic experience beyond degree acquisition • Documentation of proven leadership ability and experience • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Demonstrated strength in teaching
