Summary Description We are looking for an individual with varied electrical power design and power systems analysis experience and proven leadership, management and business development experience to lead and grow our Electrical Infrastructure Group. This position is for a “working manager” that will spend time performing project work combined with management time to lead, grow and drive the group forward. The position entails developing strategy and vision, defining services and markets, refining work processes, developing business and performing engineering work. The right candidate will have the responsibility and the authority to develop and grow the people, services and market for the group in concert with company objectives. This position comes with the opportunity for a significant ownership stake and one that is poised for a significant leadership role in the company as well as the group. We are flexible with experience background and market exposure. Our ideal candidate will have a mix of experience and relationships in different industries, preferably in some of the markets in which ESC currently works. We will entertain someone that has experience in water/wastewater, manufacturing or oil and gas sectors as those are the primary areas where services are currently provided.
Lead the Electrical Infrastructure Group including strategy, vison, business development and day-to-day management.
Provide exceptional client services with effective and enthusiastic marketing for our Electrical Infrastructure Design related services.
Provide planning, analytic and design services to clients in the heavy industrial, manufacturing, municipal, commercial and institutional market sectors.
Work directly with clients and the team to provide services such as:
Develop project proposals to include defining work scopes, engineering cost estimates and probable opinion of construction costs.
Manage, execute, coordinate and close out electric power design projects within budget.
Perform power system studies to include arc flash hazard evaluations, short-circuit studies, protective device coordination, and load-flow analysis.
Develop standard technical specifications and basic engineering design drawings.
Review electrical drawings including single line diagrams; 3-line diagrams; wiring/connection diagrams; control schematics; grounding, lighting, and raceway layouts.
Work in conjunction with our Controls and Automation Group on integrated I&E projects.
Support construction projects as required with on-site technical support including at the Owner’s Engineering office, the construction job site, as well as any equipment manufacturer’s locations.
Assist in plant start-ups and commissioning activities.
Work with site and construction personnel to develop and implement small capital projects to improve site electrical systems including providing electrical input for project proposal development.
Travel for business development, project site visits, field reviews and startup, and commissioning activities.
Mentor other engineers and act as subject matter expert, this includes planning of in-house technical training and team member development.
Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from an accredited engineering school.
Licensed Professional engineer by examination.
Work experience in industry, minimum ten (10) years, ideally in a similar role in a consulting environment, experience related to electrical power systems design in industrial settings such as oil and energy, refineries, manufacturing, mining, etc. as well as institutional and commercial applications.
Knowledge of low voltage and medium voltage power distribution principles and related equipment.
Experience in developing standard technical specifications and basic engineering design drawings and construction packages.
Experience with electrical modeling software and analysis tools such as SKM Power Tools, ETAP and/or EasyPower in developing models and using results to develop results and recommendations.
Understanding of protective device coordination.
Knowledge of hazardous area installation requirements.
Knowledge of arc flash safety requirements.
Knowledge of applicable codes and standards including NEC and NFPA.
Knowledge of equipment and facility grounding, lighting, and raceway layout principles and electrical single-line development.
Demonstrated ability to work and lead with technical staff, and manage multiple tasks and objectives.
Motivated and enthusiastic; good people skills and temperament; drive and ambition to set and reach challenging goals.
Personality to work with engineering and operational staff of a varied client base.
Problem-solving and client service orientation.
Self-starter with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to communicate effectively with internal team members and external clients.
