Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. (Wood) has an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer interested in gaining experience in geotechnical exploration, testing, and foundation design experience while assisting in delivering geotechnical engineering services contracts in Dallas. The ideal candidate has a civil engineering degree, preferably a graduate level degree in geotechnical engineering. (Ames Foster Wheeler is now part of Wood)

Key Responsibilities

The Graduate Geotechnical Engineer would be involved in the following:

• Field supervision of geotechnical investigations, and borehole logging
• Field inspection and testing of soils and concrete and geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring
• Assigning, coordinating and supervising geotechnical laboratory testing activities
• Preparation of boring logs including soil classifications
• Performance of geotechnical engineering analyses / studies and foundation design under senior staff’s direct supervision
• Support in preparation of geotechnical engineering reports and proposals under senior staff’s direct supervision
• Performance and supervision of construction inspection and materials sampling and testing under senior staff’s direct supervision
• Support in administration of geotechnical engineering projects and contracts in accordance with Wood’s policies and procedures

Skills / Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. Civil Engineering (geotechnical engineering preferred)
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Strong team work, able to listen to requirements and work well others
• Ability to manage time effectively
• Excellent attention to detail and a thorough approach to work
• Certified as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or the ability to obtain the certification within 6 months from the employment
• Knowledge with Geotechnical, Construction Engineering, Material Engineering and other related technical disciplines
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Business Suite Applications and project scheduling tools
• Flexibility to travel to construction sites for extended periods and work outside of normal business hours
• Valid Texas driver’s license or the ability to obtain within 6 months from the employment
• Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
