Engineer I – Power Generation:
PURPOSE OF POSITION:  
Under the close supervision of the Manager-Power Generation Engineering, or their designee, performs entry-level professional and technical engineering work.  The position’s emphasis will be on becoming familiar with all aspects of the operation and maintenance of electric generating station.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Science degree in an applicable engineering field (EE preferred), from an educational institution accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), is required.  Engineering experience is preferred.   

Licensing/Certification:   

Valid driver’s license required.  Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•    Organize and coordinate technical work at all levels of complexity and effectively handle numerous assignments simultaneously.    
•    Knowledge of fundamental engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.  
•    General knowledge and skill in the use of specific software products utilized at City Utilities.  
•    Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
•    Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with employees and contractors, having varied technical skills, to manage projects and time effectively to meet project deadlines.
•    Work courteously with customers, co-workers, and individuals in other departments.
•    Ability to work under pressure.

Engineer II – Power Generation:
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Under the general supervision of the Manager-Power Generation Engineering, or their designee, performs professional and technical engineering work requiring application of standard engineering principles and procedures in an electric generating station.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Science degree in an applicable engineering field (EE preferred), from an educational institution accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), is required.  Minimum three years progressively responsible and related engineering experience is required.  Electric generating station experience preferred. 

Licensing/Certification:   

Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is required.  Valid driver’s license required.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•    Demonstrate and interpret policies and procedures, and have a good working knowledge of national, state, and local laws and regulations and apply utility engineering practices and techniques.  
•    Plan, organize, and coordinate technical work at all levels of complexity and effectively handle numerous assignments simultaneously.    
•    General knowledge and skill in the use of specific software products utilized at City Utilities.  
•    Ability to read and understand equipment manuals to ensure reliable operation and maintenance of power station equipment.  
•    Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with employees and contractors, having varied technical skills, to manage projects and time effectively to meet project deadlines.
•    Work courteously with customers, co-workers, and individuals in other departments.
•    Ability to work under pressure.

Engineer III – Power Generation:
PURPOSE OF POSITION: 
Under the general supervision of the Manager-Power Generation Engineering, or their designee, performs independent professional and technical engineering duties necessary to successfully meet departmental needs and goals. Performs independent professional and technical engineering work requiring application of standard engineering principles and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Science degree in an applicable engineering field (EE preferred), from an educational institution accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), is required.  Minimum five years progressively responsible power generation utility or seven years of related professional engineering experience is required.  Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance processes preferred.

Licensing/Certification:   

Professional Engineering (PE) licensure in the State of Missouri is required; however, engineers with exceptional equivalent power generation engineering experience may be considered in lieu of a PE.  Individuals with a PE from another state shall have 12 months to obtain Missouri PE registration.  Valid driver’s license required.

•    Demonstrate and interpret policies and procedures, and have a good working knowledge of national, state, and local laws and regulations and apply utility engineering practices and techniques.  
•    Design, plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate technical work at all levels of complexity and effectively handle numerous assignments simultaneously.    
•    Knowledge of and ability to use City Utilities’ specific, computer office software.  
•    Experience with presentation and scheduling software.  
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and others.  
•    Ability to establish work priorities and work independently with minimal supervision. 
•    Work courteously with customers, co-workers, and individuals in other departments.
•    Work under pressure and meet close deadlines.
•    Must be able to teach, mentor, and oversee less experienced engineers and co-ops.

Engineer IV – Power Generation:
PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Engineer I-IV – Power Generation:

Physical Requirements:

Typically, sedentary work.  Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and receive detailed information through oral communication is required.  Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, and close visual acuity to operate a computer is required. Bending and stooping may be required for filing and file retrieval. Must be able to work in confined spaces or at heights exceeding 20 feet.

Working Conditions:

Duties are performed in a remote office and industrial environment.  May be exposed to extreme conditions, including loud noise, heat, and inclement weather.  May be required to work in confined spaces or at heights exceeding 20 feet.   May be required to work non-standard hours, holidays, and schedules that include call-out.

Miscellaneous Requirements: 

Required to wear uniform clothing provided by City Utilities, including flame retardant/arc rated clothing. Must be able to work successfully with diverse groups of people.

TESTING:
Testing may be required.
