| You will be responsible for: · Roadway safety programs and policies o Lead and manage the development of the City’s first Vision Zero Action Plan, a large and complex project including consultation with City staff and outside agencies. Develop the scope, conduct community engagement, create key performance indicators, and obtain City Council endorsement. o Aid in the development of automated enforcement programs and generate reports and analysis as to their effectiveness and safety benefit. o Identify needs within the Transportation Services Department and develop new or updated policies to meet industry best practices and enhance roadway safety. · Project management o Once developed and approved, administer, and oversee programs under the Vision Zero Action Plan. o Administer and oversee projects related to roadway safety audits, neighbourhood traffic management plans, traffic calming assessments, and roadway safety pilot projects. This includes developing scope, overseeing team members and external interested parties, community engagement, procurement, managing budgets, and fulfilling all reporting requirements. · Analysis and reporting o Conduct annual reporting to staff and City Council on the state of roadway safety and collision trends. o Conduct network screening and identify roadways and intersections with a potential for safety improvement. Develop short, medium, and long-term plans to address safety issues. o Utilize best practises and technology to display key performance metrics, and overall road safety program effectiveness. o Provide expert collision and road safety analysis in support of capital projects, development applications. consultant reports, design drawings and standards, and master plans. o Conduct reviews of fatal injury collisions and document site conditions, supporting supervisor on legal inquiries and proceedings. o Provide technical expertise in the review of consultant and internal reports, design drawings and standards, master plans, and development applications. · Education and outreach programs o Develop and implement modern education programs/campaigns related to roadway safety in collaboration with City staff and partners (e.g., Halton Police, community groups, internal services). Attend public meetings and demonstrations as required o Proactively gather feedback from City staff and the community to develop and improve road safety initiatives. |
